Frank is regarded as the “first star of Hawaiian music”. In 1915 Frank and his wife, Helen signed to Columbia records where they recorded prolifically and released some totally amazing steel guitar music (see our Helen Louise’s portrait for her tragic tale.) Frank was also the guitarist for Vernon Dalhart’s 1924 version of “Wreck of the Old 97” - the first million selling record in American country music history.
